User Generated Content [UGC] is media or content created by the end users, usually peer to peer, with members of a group producing content for other members of that group. It encompasses blogging, video sharing sites and pod-casting amongst others. UGC is the biggest growth media form on the internet, with users sharing opinions on everything from holiday destinations to where to get good insurance.

What differentiates User Generated Content from other forms of professional media is its directness, people are in control of telling their story straight to the viewer, and it is this directness and authenticity that makes UGC an ideal communication tool for organisations and companies.
