55degrees developed a rich media content development and management system ‘Curator’ to meet the needs of Elgin Museum. Grade A listing prevented all abilities access to the Upper Galleries. Curator ensures that the Museum still manages to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. A Java-based content development programme allows Museum Staff and Volunteers to easily create content about the Museum collection and publish to Kiosks, the Web or CD-ROM. Given the low ICT literacy rate amongst the volunteers, the system had to be very easy to use. Curator has since been praised by ADAPT and has shown at the MDA Conference in Winchester.
