55degrees produced both the AudioVisual and the Website for Fonn ’s Duthchas - a collaborative project between the National Museums Scotland, National Library of Scotland & National Galleries of Scotland to celebrate Highland 2007.

This Exhibition was opened at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery in January by the first minister Jack McConnell as part of the launch of Highland 2007. Following this it will tour to Kelvingrove in Glasgow, the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and Museum nan Eilean in Stornoway over the coming year.

Trevor Cromie, 55 Culture Manager says "it has been great working with the three National Institutions on this innovative project." Trevor has a natural empathy for the needs of Cultural Institutions having previously been Exhibitions Director at The Lighthouse. "The Fonn 's Duthchas website needed to be both accessible and standards compliant while having engaging content, including videos, flash interactives and eCards. It's great that at 55degrees we can fulfil all of these requirements inhouse, ultimately making the project easier to manage and more cost effective for our clients."

One of the innovative aspects to the website is an interactive map of Scotland. Trevor says "We wanted an interactive map to allow people to see where these places are. We liked the idea that a virtual visit could inspire and then facilitate the planning of an actual physical visit." The map links to eight specially commissioned films by 55degrees that give insight into contemporary life in the Highlands.

Teachers can download pdf worksheets to use as Learning Resources, while pupils can explore Bard McIntyre's Box by artist Will Maclean or go on a Highland Trip Through Time with the flash interactives on the website also developed by 55degrees.
