The exhibition video “Slipping the Maid” documents the “Maid of the Loch” steamship being lifted out of Loch Lomond following the half million pound refurbishment of the Balloch Slipway.
55degrees combined animation, archive images, documentary video footage and time-lapse photography to create the short film. It gave a brief history of Loch Lomond's Steamship, explained the process of lifting 350 tons of ship out of the water using Victorian technology and documented the painstaking process of renovation. The video was voiced by the distinguished actor Timothy West, and Princess Anne opened the exhibition in late 2006.
