The National Museums of Scotland's exhibition for summer 2005 at the Royal Museum in Edinburgh is ‘Nicholas & Alexandra’. This unique exhibition from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg, tells the story through objects and paintings of Russia's last Imperial family. 55degrees produced a series of films for the exhibition that revealed archive footage and helped overcome display problems for some of the exhibits. In particular two panoramic watercolours measuring 60 and 130 meters in length, were filmed and edited into one continuous tracking shot. The two resultant films allowed the paintings to be (virtually) displayed for the first time since they were gifted to the Tsar by Queen Victoria!
